Electrochemistry studies the processes that involve the transfer of electrons via an external electric circuit; therefore it refers to chemical transformations produced by the passage of electricity in some chemical systems and the production / storage of electricity via chemical transformations.
Electrophoresis - analytical and separative technique - is based on the movement of electrically charged particles immersed in a fluid as the result of an applied electric field and a pair of electrodes to the fluid itself. In the case of an electrolytic cell, the cathode takes on a negative charge and the anode assumes a positive charge, for which the particles tend to move towards the cathode if they have a positive charge - cataphoresis - and towards the anode if they have a negative charge - anaphoresis.
